Wasatch Mixed Waste Processing

The request from Wasatch Integrated was to construct a facility in Layton, Utah capable of processing 112,500 tons of MSW per year. This project included the design/build of a 25,000 square foot new building and the remodel/reuse of an existing 30,000 square foot building. This structure is situated next to a previous processing plant, creating challenges with concrete, and existing building structural retrofit and modifications. The end goal was to create Geocycle fuels and selectively recycle all materials desired, such as aluminum, other metals, paper, and plastics. Our team consisted of specialty contractors, engineers, and specialty consultants. The facility is able to successfully achieve the standards set by Wasatch Integrated of running 40 tons MSW per hour. Additionally, it was constructed to allow educational tours of elementary age students, to educate them on the importance of recycling and how our refuse is processed. This project was completed after just 14 months in July of 2020.
